GENESIS FOUNDING MEMBER ANTHONY PHILLIPS ANNOUNCES CAPTIVATING NEW DOUBLE ALBUM: GEMINI – PIECES FOR PIANO

The legendary progressive rock pioneer and celebrated composer returns with his most accomplished and evocative solo keyboard works in over two decades.

LONDON, UK - Esoteric Antenna (a Cherry Red Records label) is proud to announce the release of Gemini – Pieces For Piano, a brand-new double album by gifted composer, multi-instrumentalist, and Genesis founding member Anthony Phillips. Released on 10th April 2026, this beautifully crafted 2CD set represents a profound creative peak in Phillips's legendary career.

Comprising 44 original solo tracks recorded between October 2022 and October 2025, Gemini – Pieces For Piano is an intimate, expressive, and luminous collection. Described by Anthony himself as the very best of his keyboard compositions written since his critically acclaimed 1999 solo piano album Soirée, this new work is a masterclass in melody, texture, and emotional depth.

The title track holds a prestigious backstory, as it was originally composed by Phillips for the world-renowned, Grammy-winning concert pianist Martha Argerich, who premiered the work in duet form alongside pianist Gabriele Baldocci in 2018. This album proudly features Phillips's own evocative solo piano interpretation of the piece, anchoring a collection that navigates between peaceful, contemplative ambient spaces and rich, contemporary classical arrangements.

A Storied Musical Heritage

As a co-founder of Genesis alongside Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford, and Tony Banks, Anthony Phillips helped shape the pioneering sound of early British progressive rock on the landmark albums From Genesis to Revelation and Trespass. After leaving the band in 1970, Phillips further honed his craft by studying orchestration and harmony at London’s prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

His subsequent solo career has been marked by unparalleled versatility and exceptional craftsmanship, spanning from his iconic 1977 debut The Geese & The Ghost (featuring Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford) to his celebrated, long-running Private Parts & Pieces and Missing Links series. Beyond the studio, Phillips has established himself as one of the world's most prolific and successful composers for film, television, and documentaries, including highly regarded scores for ITV’s Lifeboat and the BBC’s Natural World.

Following the successful conclusion of his extensive back-catalogue reissue series with Esoteric Recordings, which earned him the prestigious Storm Thorgerson Grand Design Award, Gemini – Pieces For Piano marks a triumphant return to brand-new, original music. It is an album specifically aimed at listeners who cherish music that sets a profound mood, offering timeless grace crafted by a composer at the height of his melodic powers.

Gemini – Pieces For Piano is available now as a 2CD set in a beautifully designed 6-panel Digipak featuring an 8-page booklet.
